INDIAN SCHOLARSHIPS FOR NIGERIEN STUDENTS FOR THE YEAR 2014-15

          As in past years, Government of India sponsored Scholarships will be available to Nigerien students for higher studies in India for the academic year 2014-15.

         Administered by the Embassy of India, on behalf of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), 08 scholarships under Africa Scholarship Scheme will be available for Nigerien nationals.

Terms and conditions: The scholarships inter alia, include return economy class air fares to the nearest international airport and 3rd class AC train fare to the place of study, if so required, tuition fee, monthly stipend and house rent allowance, yearly contingent grant, medical benefits (conditional), and thesis and dissertation expenses as applicable.

Nominations for B.E. courses may ensure that the candidates have taken Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PMC) in their school leaving examinations. Medical / Paramedical (Nursing / Physiotherapy / anesthesia, etc) / fashion courses are not covered by the Scheme.

  Please note that, in case of Scholars pursuing science courses, the expenditure on laboratory chemicals and other related incidental charges will be borne by the scholars themselves.

Interested Nigerien nationals having fluent knowledge of English language (written as well as spoken), should check the specific admission criteria laid down by the various universities for each subject, and ensure that they submit all relevant documentation as required by the universities in addition to the basic certificate mentioned in the application form. Direct Admission of Students Abroad [DASA]

The Indian education system has through the ages been identified with quality education, coupled with low cost of education delivery and living, making it an attractive proposition for international students to come and study in India. Students studying in India or contemplating to study in India can be assured of receiving internationally recognized qualifications. Indian educational system offers world class education through broader range of general and specialized courses which are relevant to the needs of the developing and developed countries. The standard of Indian qualifications is high and the manpower India trains is sought all over the world. Indian researchers and academicians are leaders in their respective fields. Indian software professionals are being given red carpet welcome in many countries as they have created a niche for themselves. The admissions of foreign nationals and Indian students studying abroad to undergraduate Eng. programs in Centrally Funded Institutions (CFIs) is being done under DASA (Direct Admission of Students Abroad) scheme from the academic session 2001-02 onwards.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has entrusted the coordination of the admission process under DASA scheme to NITK, Surathkal from academic year 2010-11.

DASA SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME:

A scholarship scheme to attract brighter candidates from abroad to DASA scheme in all participating institutes was introduced from the academic year 2011-12. The main highlight of this scheme includes a 25% tuition fee waiver during the first year for the top 2 meritorious candidates (in the order of merit as per SAT scores) admitted in all participating institutes. The candidates can get the reimbursement of this tuition fee waiver after the admission process is over. This scholarship is for the first year only.
